Disposal DIY

Writer's picture: Eagar PlumbingEagar Plumbing

Did you know your disposal has an overload protection switch? If your disposal is clogged, left on too long, or overheats, it will shut down automatically. This is an easy DIY fix!

• Make sure your disposal is turned off and remove any debris that might be jamming it.

• Locate the red reset button on the bottom of the disposal (you can use a mirror to help find it) and push it. If it doesn't stay retracted, wait 10 minutes and try again.

• If the button won't stay retracted or if it requires repeated resets, it may need repair or replacement.
